The Italianized Blonde Q&A
Why did you start a blog?
Abby: I had wanted to start a blog for a really long time, because I think that writing is a great way to self reflect and save memories. So, as soon as I moved to Italy I started writing. However, I know to stay accountable I need to work with someone else, and Emily is a fantastic business partner! Together, we will be able to provide more content and share multiple opinions, plus it’s a really nice way to strengthen our friendship. And I mean, isn’t everything better with a friend?
Em: I started the blog because I couldn’t think of a better way to document my travels and experiences than with a good friend. Abby has already become a lifelong friend and I am so excited to work with her as an Italianized Blonde and share life through stories, photography and fun adventures!
How would you describe Abby in one word?
Em: Trustworthy.
What is your favorite quality of Abby?
Em: That she is so open and accepting of me always.
How would you describe Emily in one word?
Abby: compassionate
What is your favorite quality of Emily?
Abby: Emily is so loving and positive! She gives me the very best daily affirmations!
What is your favorite thing about Italy?
Abby: The pace of life! Italians take time to enjoy everything! They have time for friends and family (and really make that time a priority). Plus they may actually be more passionate than I am about having enough coffee.
Em: The constant beauty that I’m surround with! The limitless architecture centuries old, the delicious wines and foods everywhere I go, the friendly locals, a beautiful language, feeling close to any travel destination my heart fancies and the close relationships I have already built.
What is your least favorite thing about Italy?
Abby: Close mindedness, but perhaps this can apply to the whole world. Oh and all the young people who smoke cigarettes like it’s super cool…drives me crazy!
Em: That sometimes I feel like I blasted into the past about 30 years lol.
Who is your greatest idol?
Abby: It has to be my parents because they taught me how to be independent, to love travel, to be open minded, and to see the good in all people.
Em: Honestly, my parents! They are both wonderful people and have qualities that I admire and am inspired by everyday.
What’s your favorite place in Turin?
Abby: My favorite place is this small park by my old home called Parco della Tesoriera, it has a gorgeous fountain and it is so nice to have some nature in a big city.
Em: My absolute favorite is Piazza Castello. I can’t get over how majestic the palace is!
What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
Abby: In my free time I love to travel! Of course, for that you need a fair bit of time. So when my time is limited to a few hours I like to sketch and journal. I also am always up for cuddles and netflix. Cuddles in general, even without netflix! AND COFFEE, I love hanging out in cafes with a good book, or a friend, or my laptop.
Em: In my free time I like to explore a new place. I often travel on weekends all around Italy or stay close by in the Piedmonte region and discover a tiny little un-noticed town. I also MUST always find a cafe I think is adorable and enjoy a cappuccino…at least twice a day. 🙂
What are your hobbies?
Abby: I have a huge spot in my heart for the arts in general. I work at a dance school and obviously love to dance, there really isn’t a style I dislike. However, most of all, I love to draw, and paint and create things. I love working with mixed media, for example painting a portrait and then attaching dried flowers to create a flower crown. I have always felt that art is a beautiful self reflection! I also adore going to check out art galleries and museums. So, my hobby is kind of a broad subject summed up in one word as ART.
Em: I love to dance! So much. I have since I was a kid and it hasn’t lost it’s flare for me. Contemporary is my all time favorite but Classical Ballet has a special place in my heart. Although I do love some good ol’ R&B and Hip Hop and I am always up for going out dancing with friends and leaving it all on the dance floor. I also have always loved Photography and taking my camera out for a day of capturing any beautiful thing, place or person that catches my eye. And let’s not forget singing. I LOVE to sing!
